Now part of the newly formed county Hereford and Worcester this former county is located in the area known as the West Midlands in central England.
Much of the area is given over to market gardening for the populous Midlands region. Although historically Worcester is renowned for its ceramics and still has factories making porcelain and china goods the industrial base has successfully diversified.
Tourism is also increasingly popular in the region with boating holidays along the many rivers and some canals.
