Introducing Wiltshire
Located in southern England between the Bristol Channel and the English Channel this county is possibly best known for Stonehenge, an ancient arrangement of stones dating from Neolithic times. This is only one of several ancient monuments in the region which serve to illustrate it's importance in ancient times. Nowadays they serve as tourist attractions and together with areas of natural beauty such as the Cotswolds are able to make a significant contribution to the local economy.

Agriculture is still important in the region with crops such as wheat covering much of the countryside. Industry is is mostly confined to Swindon and Salisbury, the former of which has successfully managed to attract foreign investment in the form of car manufacturing plants and other areas of light industry. The Ministry of Defence uses huge tracts of lands on the Salisbury Plain for military exercises.
