Centrally located in the East Midlands region of England, Northamptonshire is crossed by major road and rail links which have helped it to change from an essentially rural way of life and sustains a number of small scale industrial centres.
The scale of the industry has done little to change the beauty of the region which is still dominated by rolling hills and villiage life. The locally mined iron ore reserves have been well worked and other industries have had to step in to sustain the local economy.
