Located in the north of England this county is finding increasing fame as a tourist attraction thanks to the beauty of the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. The town of York is also extremely popular with tourists who enjoy the spectacular cathedral and the narrow old fashioned lanes which make up the town centre.
Agriculture is still important for the region with large areas being given over to the production of grain and dairy farming. What industry there is is principally light and largely confined to the towns such as York where the manufacture of chocolate and other foods is common. Although the area can appear isolated it has good road links with the rest of the country and is on the London-Edinburgh rail line.
