Located centrally within the East Midlands of England this county was once a producer of coal but along with the rest of the country mining has become a thing of the past.
Cattle and sheep farming is still prevalant but the generally high level of employment owes more to the more modern industries such as engineering.
The county also has two universities in Leicester and Loughborough and is generally considered to be one of the more modern and forward thinking of the counties of central England.
