Known as the garden of England, Kent is located between the famous white cliffs of Dover on the English channel and the southern end of London's Thames estuary. The growth of London has infact claimed many of Kents towns for itself and there is no clear divide between the two. It's close proximity to mainland Europe has caused many ports to prosper and the channel tunnel entrance is also located here.
Many defensive barriers litter the coastal area and were added to in the second world war to protect England from an expected invasion by the Germans.
Many industries located along the river Thames live side by side with extensive arable and fruit farming, most famously for hops to produce beer.
