Located in the South West of England in a low lying basin bordered by the Cotswold and the Mendip hills, Avon is indeed a beautiful county. Populated since ancient times there are fascinating remnants of occupation by the Romans, particularly in Bath where the waters were considered to be medicinal and tourists flock to see the Spas.
Avon has adapted well to changing times and is still considered to be a relatively affluent area with a diverse economy based on tourism, agriculture and manufacturing. The area has a young feel to it which is no doubt due in part to the thriving student communities in Bristol and Bath.
